Warehouse racking systems come in a wide variety of types. Based on their structure, they can be categorized into beam-type (pallet) racks, drive-in/drive-through racks, cantilever racks, and mezzanine racks. Beam-type racks (also known as pallet racks) are the most common; they feature a plug-in connection between beams and uprights for quick assembly and disassembly, making them suitable for direct access by forklifts. Drive-in/drive-through racks utilize a densely arranged rail design to minimize aisle space and significantly increase storage density, making them ideal for bulk storage applications such as cold storage and food warehousing. Cantilever racks are specifically designed for long items-such as pipes and structural profiles-using single- or double-sided cantilever arms to provide support and prevent deformation. Mezzanine racks incorporate a platform built above the racking structure to create multi-level storage space, making them well-suited for lightweight goods and order-picking operations.
