Types And Characteristics Of Mold Racks

Mold racks can be categorized in various ways, with each type offering unique features and application scenarios.

Classification by Load-Bearing Capacity

Light-duty mold racks: Designed for storing small, lightweight molds, typically with a load capacity of 200–800 kg per shelf. They feature a simple, cost-effective structure, making them suitable for small manufacturing enterprises or settings where molds are used infrequently.

Heavy-duty mold racks: Designed for large, heavy molds, with load capacities ranging from 800 kg to 3,000 kg or more. Constructed from high-quality steel using advanced manufacturing techniques, they are robust enough to withstand the weight of heavy molds and ensure safe storage.

Classification by Structural Design

Drawer-style mold racks: These racks feature a unique drawer design that simplifies mold storage and retrieval. Each drawer slides independently and is equipped with its own lifting mechanism, ensuring ease of operation alongside safety and reliability. Additionally, the vertical spacing between shelves can be adjusted as needed to accommodate molds of various sizes. This type is ideal for small-to-medium molds, particularly in production environments involving a wide variety of molds and frequent changeovers.

Open-style mold racks: These feature an open storage structure where molds are placed directly onto the shelves without the need for drawers or sliding tracks. This design makes the storage and retrieval process more intuitive and rapid, making it particularly suitable for large or heavy molds. However, open-style racks may offer slightly lower space utilization compared to drawer-style racks, as safety clearances between molds may be required.

Sliding-tray mold racks: These racks utilize sliding trays as platforms for supporting and moving the molds. Molds are placed on the trays, and storage or retrieval is achieved by sliding the trays in and out. This structure reduces the physical effort required for handling, making it an excellent choice for environments with limited space or where the use of heavy handling equipment is inconvenient.
